Roaming mode
TrendMicro OfficeScan 10.6 Clients should not be using roaming mode; It is disabled in this version. Â Roaming mode actually causes several issues, when a client is placed in roaming mode it is unable to be centrally managed by the OfficeScan server and will not receive any policy or settings updates. Â Also, once a client is stuck in roaming mode there is no easy way to take it out of roaming mode remotely without user intervention.
On the new OfficeScan 10.6 Server clients will still receive virus definitions and web reputation directly from TrendMicro. We have a policy enabled on the new TrendMicro servers that allows clients to receive updates directly from TrendMicro even if they aren’t able to communicate back to the OfficeScan server. This eliminates the need for roaming mode.  Â
When clients are in roaming mode:
- Clients do not send logs to the OfficeScan server, even if there is a functional connection between the server and clients.
- The OfficeScan server does not initiate tasks and deploy client settings to the clients, even if there is functional connection between the server and clients.
- Clients update components if they can connect to any of their update sources. Sources include the OfficeScan server, Update Agents, or a custom update source.
