Request a Nessus Account

Request a Nessus Account

Please note that although precautions have been taken and the process is specifically designed not to cause a service disruption (only scan plugins marked 'safe' are enabled), there is always a very remote chance that vulnerability scanning could cause a service to crash or behave unexpectedly. Please understand that by using Nessus, you accept responsibility for any issues resulting from the scan. We recommend that you scan your development environment first if you have one.

To request a Nessus account, please email information_security@tufts.edu with "Request a Nessus Account" in the header. Include your full name, UTLN, and phone number. Also include a list of your scan targets, the IP addresses or subnets that you are authorized to scan, and  your computer, the IP address you plan to scan from.

An example of a "Request a Nessus Account" email would read as follows

To: information_security@tufts.edu

From: john.doe@tufts.edu
