Getting access to LANDesk

Overview

New employees will often need access to the LANDesk Management Console, but there are several steps that need to be followed.

Procedure

  1. Identify what role that new employee should have.
  2. Submit a request to it@tufts.edu with the UTLN of the new employee. Make sure you include the name of the security group they need from the list of roles.
  3. The person who needs LANDesk access should send an email to sympa@elist.tufts.edu with the subject "sub landesk_users". This will sign them up for the landesk_users elist so they are kept up to date regarding information and communications about LANDesk.
  4. Scopes are automatically configured via security group as well so each IT group just needs to make sure they add the new employee to the relevant security group. If the user is not a member of the necessary security groups, they will be able to log into LANDesk but they will not be able to see any devices.
