Customizing Column Sets

Overview

Column Sets control what fields from inventory are visible when browsing the list of devices. The default column set only includes fields for Display Name, OS Name, Type. Landesk only searches for the fields you have in your column set so if you are using the default column set and entered an IP, service tag, or UTLN into the search box, Landesk would return no results.

Changing your column set

Your column set can be changed within the Landesk Console by selecting Tools->Administration->Column Set Configuration from the menu bar. Once the column set tab is open, you can browse any column sets you have made, any that your co-workers have shared with your department "team", and and those in the "Tufts team" folder. To use one of these column sets, right click on it and select "Set as default".

There is an existing public column set named "Tufts Default Column Set" that is recommended.

Creating your own column set

If you want to create your own column set, within the column set tab, right click on the "My Column Sets" group and click the "New Column Set" option. Once you name your column set at the top of the window, you should see a list of all the inventory fields available in the top half of the window and a list of any inventory fields that are to be part of your column set below. By default, Landesk includes the fields Display Name, OS Name, and Type. Type isn't very useful so feel free to remove it by selecting it below and clicking the remove button.

From here, you can browse the tree view of the inventory above and add any fields you find helpful by selecting them and clicking the "Add to Columns" button. You can rearrange the order of the columns using the move up and move down buttons.
