Description

Adobe Connect can be accessed by visiting Spark (spark.uit.tufts.edu) and selecting WebConferencing, or directly by visiting webconf.uit.tufts.edu.

Web Conferencing allows participants in different locations to meet online to discuss, collaborate and do presentations. Web Conferencing can be used by instructors to teach and communicate with students who are geographically dispersed or by students or researchers who wish to collaborate remotely.

Tufts Adobe Connect has a capacity of 100 concurrent users, and members of the Tufts community can access the service by logging in with their UTLN. Non-Tufts participants can sign in as guests.

Support

The Adobe Connect service is supported by EISS. Issues that need to be escalated can be sent to support-systems@tufts.edu.

General Video Conferencing Support

Requests

If a client calls and is requesting to set up a video conference, give them the link to the Video Conference Wiki (http://go.tufts.edu/videoconference). The website has information on video conferencing on all three campuses and includes all of the necessary information that we will need to schedule their video conference. The UITSC email account also has a template that requests all of the necessary information.

For future requests, please remind them that online requests are preferred but they can always email the support center with questions. Please remind the client that at least 5 business days notice should be given for all video conferencing. This will allow time to setup, and to run tests if they are needed.

Other Information

Adobe Connect is different from Movi in that it focuses mainly on presentation sharing/screen sharing and tends to be used for one-way presentations with participants watching and listening. It is typically more useful for classrooms, and is less widely used at Tufts than Movi. Unlike Movi, it also does not necessarily require a Tufts account in order to participate in a presentation, nor does it require a software installation.

Known Issues

  • Ineligible users are not purged from the users list
