Mac

Package is available in LANdesk.

Using Landesk

Identity Finder support has provided a script to remove the client from Mac machines. The package based on the script is available in Landesk (the package is setup as silent and preserves the user preferences for IDF , see below for switches)

Manual

Download the Identity Finder removal script for Mac if you need to remove the software manually.

For Windows, you can the following from command line or script

 msiexec.exe /X IdentityFinder7.5.0.2_noTag.msi /qn /norestart

ProductGUID values can be derived from Landesk by going to the inventory of the machine in question, selecting Software->Product and clicking on the Identity Finder.

If it is necessary to completely uninstall the application, download the script UninstallIDF.sh attached to this article and perform the following steps:

  1. Copy the UninstallIDF.sh script to the desktop of the Mac OS system on which the uninstall is to be performed.
  2. Open Terminal
  3. Execute the following command to set the current directory to the desktop:   cd ~/Desktop
  4. Execute the following command to set the permissions on the script and make it executable:    chmod ugo+x UninstallIDF.sh
  5. Execute the following command to begin the uninstall:    sudo ./UninstallIDF.sh -p
  6. A password prompt should be displayed.  Enter the password used to log into the Mac OS system.

Additionally, there are several command line switches available to use with the uninstall script:

  • -h: Display a list of valid switches
  • -s: Execute silently
  • -y: Automatically answer "Yes" to the "Preserve user prefs? (Yes/No)" prompt
  • -n: Automatically answer "No" to the "Preserve user prefs? (Yes/No)" prompt
  • -p: Prompt for an administrator password (required to remove system resources and perform a full uninstall)

Helpful information in regards to resetting a LOST Identify Finder password for a MAC (you need to follow this path on a MAC). Drag both of these "out of that area and onto the desk top". This will remove them from the path and free up your Identity Finder password (once you remove thee two below click on Identify Finder and it will ask you to "ENTER PASSWORD and then CONFIRM PASSWORD").
