Mac IP and MAC Address
Overview
It is important to note that Macs use both the Airport and the Ethernet for MAC Addresses. Ensure you and the user are looking for the same one when registering the machine.Â
To locate the IP Address or the MAC Address in OSX, instruct the user through the following commands:
- Select the Apple in the upper left hand corner of your screen
- Next select "Network"
- Select "Ethernet" which is on the left hand side of the screen
- The IP Address for the user will be displayed on this tab (or the airport tab if the user is using wireless). To continue to get the MAC address, hit "advanced" in the lower right hand corner.
- Move to the last tab "Ethernet"
- The Mac Address is called "Ethernet ID:" and is the top line on this screen
- It should be six groups of two alphanumeric pairings
- For example: 00:1b:64:aa:45:9b
