Install Linux LiveCD on USB thumb drive

If you need to test one Linux distribution or need a quick Linux boot option, one can create a bootable USB stick with any flavor of Linux OS. Below example is for CentOS with Fedora liveusb creator.

  1. Download the Fedora liveusb-creator-x-x.zip and extract to your PC
  2. Download the CentOS-5.x-i386-LiveCD.iso
  3. Navigate to the liveusb-creator-x-x folder and click liveusb-creator.exe to launch the tool
  1. Under Use existing Live CD, browse to where you saved the CentOS-5.1-i386-LiveCD.iso and select it
  2. Set the Target Device to point to your USB flash drive
  3. Click Create Live USB to begin the creation process
