Adding Users to GitHub Organizations

Tufts University (GitHub Organization): All Faculty, Staff, Students, and Tufts Affiliates can access the Tufts University organization by using their Tufts credentials to login. This is setup using Shibboleth SSO and anyone with valid Tufts credentials can login.

Tufts Technology Services (GitHub Organization): This GitHub organization is available all members of Tufts Technology Services (TTS) group in Tufts University.

• Single Sign-On (SSO) The Tufts Technology Services (GitHub Organization) is connected to the Tufts University Active Directory environment via Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) for single-sign-on to enforce the use of Tufts credentials to access resources in this organization.

• Group Membership Membership to this organization is managed by Azure AD using automated provisioning and de-provisioning (SCIM). The TTS_FacStaff AD security group is used to provide access to this GitHub organization.

  • Membership in this organization is managed by your SAML Identity Provider. Members you invite will not be able to accept the invitation, or will be removed from the organization, unless they are provisioned with the Identity Provider.

• If you are a new member then you should automatically receive an email with instructions from GitHub on how to join sent to your Tufts email address. If you are having issues please make sure that the email address from your GitHub invitation also matches your Tufts email address (first.last@tufts.edu). The GitHub organization invitation must match the email address from Azure AD.

• IMPORTANT: Non-TTS users should be added to the TTS_GitHub_NonTTS_Users security group if they require access to the Tufts Technology Services organization within GitHub
