Name: TABVMTREND2
DNS: tabvmtrend2.uit.tufts.edu
The Smart Protection Server is a purpose-built, hardened, and performance-tuned 64-bit Linux operating system. It is essentially a virtualized Linux appliance that runs the Smart Protection Server in a self-contained VM. It is only available as a virtual server when the role is separate from the OfficeScan server.
NOTE: 4/26/2012 I am currently waiting for ESS to provision this VM. I was given an ETA for 3 to 4 weeks due to other projects they have going on.

- TrendMicro recommended separating out the Smart Protection Server role to a dedicated server due to the amount of clients we are serving.
- The technology works by off-loading a large number of malware prevention signatures and lists that were previously stored on endpoints to Trend Micro Smart Protection Servers or Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™.
- System and network impact of signature updates to endpoints is greatly reduced
