1. Open the Mac and make sure it's connected to the LAN or Tufts Wireless (mapping one of your network drives is a great test).

2. In the upper-left corner, click the Apple and select System Preferences. When the System Preferences window opens, click Printer & Fax.

3. Click the + (plus sign) in the lower left side of the window to add a new printer.

4. Enter the following:

  • Protocol: Select HP Jetdirect-Socket
  • Address: NETWORK_PRINTER_NAME.tccs.tufts.edu
    Example: TCCSCANON318N.tccs.tufts.edu

(warning) The path won't work unless the printer name uses the printers exact same letter case as it appears on the server. Click here to view a list of UIT (maybe more?) networked printers.

  • Queue: Same as your networked printer name and path
    _Example: TCCSCANON318N.tccs.tufts.edu
  • Name: Accept the default entry (should auto-fill with the address).
  • Location: Add descriptive text, such as TAB classroom printer.
  • Print Using: May auto-fill. If not, select Generic Postscript Printer.

5. Send a test document to the printer.

  • No labels
