  • Group Admin (TFTS Group AdminSecurity Group: LANDesk GroupAdmin Role)

The Group Admin role is limited to those invidividuals within the University who use LANDesk extensively and need access to many of the less commonly used features. This role has access to Patch Management.

  • Field Support (TFTS Content CreatorSecurity Group: LANDesk FieldSupport Role)

Field support is the role most often used for anyone who does a lot of desktop support. Similar to the helpdesk role, field support can use remote control tools, view security and patch information, and view reports. The field support role has the ability to view and deploy scripts, LANDesk agents, software packages, provisioning templates, and can edit reports.

  • Content Creator (TFTS Content CreatorSecurity Group: LANDesk ContentCreator Role)

Content Creator has very similar permissions to field support. The primary differences are that content creators can edit and create scripts, distribution packages, delivery methods, and provisioning templates. Content creator is also the lowest group that has the ability to view software license monitoring information.

  • Help Desk (TFTS Security Group: LANDesk HelpDesk Role)

Help Desk is the most basic role currently available. The helpdesk role only has access to use remote control tools, and can view reports and patch and compliance information. As one might expect, this role is most appropriate for any helpdesk staff who do not need to use more complex tasks. The helpdesk role also works well for managers or others who do not need the desktop support functions of LANDesk but might need access to the reports and other information available.
