Tufts Network Storage - We provide storage shares using the CIFS protocol to address a number of needs.
- P (Personal) Drives are intended for a access by single individual's default is 4gb for faculty/staff, 2gb for students and shares will not exceed 10gb.

- R (Research) Drives - Intended for access by an individual or group of individuals strictly for the purpose of conducting or supporting research for the university. Access and quota is to be negotiated between the service provider (RGTS) and the requesting party.
- S (Secure) Drives - Intended to be a segregated storage location as a "Q" or "P" drive that is separate from other "Q" or "P" Drives. Data is not encrypted in a Secure drive, only the access to the drive is fundamentally different..
Tufts Cloud Storage - We provide access to a partnered internet based storage solution to foster collaboration
- Tufts Box Storage - eligible faculty, staff and student members of the Tufts community are granted an opt-in 20GB storage for their own use. They may control how their storage is shared publicly or restricted privately.
Network Data Recovery - Self Service recovery for data stored on CIFS shares (Tufts Network Storage above) within a sliding snapshot window
Network Data Protection - All data stored on UIT Infrastructure is protected by Anti-virus software designed for storage appliances and provided by TrendMicro.
Network Data Back-up - All data stored on CIFS shares (Tufts Network Storage) within a sliding window is kept for up to 1 year and exported to physical Tape. There is an aging process of the number of back-ups kept, for more information consult the UIT website on back-up and recovery.

Hypervisor Storage (Examples: ESXI, KVM, VM Storage) - Storage environment is created to provide a storage environment for hypervisor based services run by service owners.
Data Cloning (FlexClone)
- For use with Q&A and data refreshes for multiple service tiers of an application
- Ability to make a parity copy of data in a second location for the intention of data refresh such as refreshing content from the production environment into the staging, test, or development environment for Q&A Purposes.
Data Migration (SnapMirror)
- Network Infrastructure allows the ability to (in some cases) seamlessly copy or move data to a secondary location. This is done on a per-request basis or done to support the movement of services between and around the two Tufts Data Centers
Server Storage
- Supported Protocols: NFS, CIFS, iSCSI
- Ability to mount storage objects into servers (virtual or physical) which will keep data residing on the infrastructure environment
Storage IP Management
- Assignment of Storage IP space and interfaces from the storage infrastructure to servers on the VLAN "301, 302, 304, 305" environment
Back-up Management (Snapshots & SnapVault)
- Storage at an application level has regular snapshots that may differ from the storage back-ups in place for end-user storage.
Application Consulting
- Consulting available on a ticket and conversation-planning basis to help adjust for space, growth, performance, disaster recovery and protocol needs for your applications.
Guest (VM) Integration
- Some tools available and supported to assist with integration of VM Guests to the storage infrastructure
- Examples: SnapManager for Oracle, SnapManager for Exchange, SnapDrive
On-Call Responsiveness
- An On-Call rotation allowing for off-business hours response time for your applications and environment
