Clients that also have the latest LANDesk agent will report their Common Base Agent 8 version as 9.0.3.11
On the client PC with the latest LANDesk agent installed you should be able to switch the client back and forth from direct mode to gateway mode. Clients will automatically switch to gatway mode when they're off campus or unable to communicate directly with the LANDesk Core Server.
Client in direct mode while on campus and able to communicate with LANDesk core. 
Client in Gateway mode connected via LANDesk Gateway Appliance.
