Outlook 2010 does not use the .NK2, so the .NK2 file needs to be merged in order to keep previously stored e-mail addresses.

  1. The .NK2 file needs to be named after the profile name of the user. Go to Control Panel and Select the Mail icon. Click on the 'Show Profiles' button

  1. Note the Profile name. It's 'Outlook' in this case, although it could reflect the users UTLN.

  1. Note the directory of the .NK2 file. Here it is named Ex2k10-PRF.NK2

  1. Rename file to profile name of user in Outlook

  1. After .NK2 file name change, go to Start > Type 'run' and press enter and add the following command : 'outlook.exe\importnk2' and press enter.

All the e-mail address that were contained in the old Outlook 2007 autocomplete file are now merged into the Outlook 2010 user profile.
