Using Custom Names with Remote Control

Overview

By default, when a technician requests permission to remote control a computer, Landesk displayed the request with the format %COMPUTER_NAME/%UTLN%.

This can be confusing for the user as it isn't always obvious which person or IT organization is trying to assist them. Luckily, this information can be set within the options.

Procedure

  1. Right click on any computer within the Landesk Management Console and select remote control
  2. Within the Landesk Remote Control Window, click tools, then options
  3. At the bottom of the options window, check the "use alternate names" box
  4. Enter your name and IT group within the two text boxes
  5. Click apply, then ok to close the options box
