Adding drivers to WinPE

Overview

Just like traditional Windows operating systems, WinPE environments need drivers in order to interact with various types of hardware. For each computer, WinPE needs 2 drivers: ethernet and SATA. Without network drivers, WinPE will load but will not be able to communicate with the Landesk core, map network drives, or a number of any other network resources. Without SATA drivers, WinPE cannot detect the hard drive, making it impossible to image or access any files on the hard drive.

Instructions

You can find a detailed set of instructions on the Landesk forums here: http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-26930

The ability to manage WinPE drivers from a remote console has been removed in 9.5 and drivers can only be managed when logged in from the core server. The button is grayed out on the remote console but works on the core. Contact Landesk administrators for help
