Data Center Operations
The mission of the UIT Data Center Operations group is to anticipate and service the computing needs of the Tufts' community by hosting, overseeing, and supporting a variety of computing hardware and services. In addition, the operations staff provides support and consulting services to educate and orient users who wish to take advantages of its services.
The group manages and maintains an advanced, highly automated, centralized data center facility for hosting systems and servers ranging from IBM mainframes to Linux and Windows physical servers to a set of Cisco Unified Communication Server virtual farms. The current primary site, in the TAB building, provides a secure, highly-available, 24x7 environment for these systems as well as our core network, including links to our Boston and Grafton campuses and a secondary Data Center in downtown Boston, Internet and Internet2 connections, as well as a redundant backbone network supporting our main Medford campus. Data Center Operations also provides and enterprise backup service for servers in the Tufts data centers.
The Data Center Operations team is committed to attaining the highest level of quality service, reliability, excellence and integrity in supporting our customers. We promote open standards, interfaces, and protocols where appropriate, yet work with our customers to engineer the best alternative approaches when their needs require unique solutions.
