  • Best Practices for End Users

Use live queries from within Slate, rather than downloading Slate data, manipulating it and uploading it back into Slate

    Why?

    • uploaded lists are not tied back to the Slate records, so there is very limited tracking and reporting available

    • the more touchpoints, the more chances for introducing errors

    • changes to the student record, such as opt-outs, will not be reflected in uploaded queries

    Options to Encourage Adoption

    • training

    • restrict upload access outside of predefined formats, or to specific people

Create and use saved queries, rather than Quick Queries

    Why?

    • reduce duplication of effort

    • consistency

    • accuracy

    Options to Encourage Adoption

    • consistent use of Realms

    • implement and maintain query libraries

    • emphasize training for modifying queries

for most users, the goal should be to select from pre-built options and modify, rather than needing to build from scratch or save copies of existing queries
