Citizenship status: nothing special happens in SIS. Sarah says she has tried to get it, but wondering if it is masked, but Chris was able to run to PF

what happens in feed to PowerFaids?

“international student yes/no how do these folks show?”

Denodo is permissioned as ‘least access’--Will H does not believe there is access, but will check as part of audit

Ginny says: citizenship status in ASEU and ASEG has the same options

DACA, undocumented, temp protected status, deferred action is all one prompt under Cit Status. 2 yrs ago Common App changed the question they asked; pulled into Slate as “other US”; undergrad admissions has option to change to DACA if that is disclosed on the applications

(“so what is the deal with our data?” Dana LOVES that question. “don’t want Tufts in the news on this”) Erasing data/getting rid of data is fool’s errand. Can we shrink footprint?SIS

Goal: communicate reminder about business process around data access; but also discussion of limiting access

Christina needs a summary piece about citizenship for proper IPEDS reporting, but that can be masked

“It might be useful to hear the story of advancement data access to SIS data” says Will

*cit data exists across multiple systems; multiple offices have business needs for this information.

Yes, it would be great to meet to discuss. If you know the specific people to include, I can have someone in my office set that meeting up.

Thanks,

Christina

Hi,

Yes, that conversation was with and based on prior conversation about obtaining the data from SIS. I am not sure we should share more in email but should we set up a conversation with tech teams, both SIS and Slate? My understanding is that there is “masked” data in that is those who need to can interpret it determine that population of students but that they aren’t labeled specially as such.

Hi Sarah,

As you may know there have been discussions among leadership about the visibility of DACA/undocumented status in SIS. I am meeting with Dana Fleming next week to discuss but she had indicated that she “spoke to the registrar last week and confirmed that this data is no longer in SIS.” Was this conversation with you? I am just trying to see if any changes were made because we use those two statuses to determine IPEDS race coding. If there are changes being made to citizenship data in SIS, we would most likely need to work with TTS to update the data warehouse ETL process.
