Overview

McAfee Drive Encryption (MDE) 7.1 is the latest version of McAfee's full disk encryption product. It replaces the older Endpoint Encryption for PC (EEPC) product and includes several important new features:

  • Windows 8 and 8.1 support
  • UEFI support
  • Web based console
  • Active Directory integration - simplier user management, easier FSP access, anyone who has logged in before encryption has access.
  • Easier installation and removal (tag based)
  • Better recovery options: better recovery questions, shorter challenge code keys, mobile device self-service recovery

If you are unfamiliar with drive encryption, you can read more at the FAQ.
