Outlook

  • Outlook MAPI client will repoint itself automatically
    • If it was left open overnight it will request you close and re-open it
    • Local contacts and folders will remain attached to existing outlook profiles, along with any personal customizations you have done since then.
    • Users will exist in the same "GAL" as all Exchange 2003 users
  • Anyone using Outlook 2003 should upgrade to 2007

OWA

  • You will now use https://exchange.tufts.edu for all things OWA related
    • outlook.web.tufts.edu will no longer be a website that will function with your exchange account

Mobile Devices

  • Users with BES connections will not need to do anything, it will simply migrate and repoint.
    • Users who watch their device during mailbox migration the evening before will see it flash and re-register on the 5.0 server, but this does not require user intervention and users can navigate to other screens during this process
  • Exchange ActiveSync users will need to change connection information from outlook.web.tufts.edu to exchange.tufts.edu
    • ActiveSync users with iOS 4 devices will need to completely remove and rebuild their connection

Mac Users

  • Mac users (10.5.x.+) who were using entourage must upgrade to Entourage EWS

  • 10.6.x Macintosh users may use MAC MAIL as a MAPI client

Other

  • If you have configured RPC over HTTPS:// you will need to reconfigure it for exchange.tufts.edu (previously it would have been outlook.web.tufts.edu)
    • Turn SSL OFF when you configure it (it is SSL by default)
  • IMAP is enabled on the Exchange 2010 server
    • Thunderbird or any other IMAP client is an option
