Elist Admin Support - Manage Elist Subscribers
Manage Subscribers
Reference the
for a detailed explanation of all subscriber options.
Pending Subscriptions
This box allows you to accept or reject users who have requested to join the Elist. The default settings for elist does not require authentication for subscribers to join a list, to change this check up on "Edit List Config" options under "Sending/Reception"
Remind All
This option will send an email to all subscribers reminding them they are currently subscribed to the list. It will give them links for List information as well as an option to unsubscribe from the list.
Blacklist
Blacklist allows you to specify which users or groups of users can no longer send information from the list. Other ways to block users from sending to the list are under "Edit List Config" options specifically in "Sending/Reception"
To use the blacklist, please observe the following syntax:
Blacklist Procedures | Example |
---|---|
only use one blacklist address per line, hit return between addresses. | john.doe@tufts.edu |
after an entry, use # to add a comment | john.doe@tufts.edu # blacklisting John Doe for Spam May 08 |
use the asterisk "*" to match any string | *@tufts.edu this will blacklist any sender from tufts.edu |
use only one asterisk per line | john.*@tufts* will not work to block any users with firstname john at any tufts domain. Work around this by either creating multiple entries or changing the list reception configuration under "Edit List Config" |
Bounces
The Elist will track which user emails are bouncing. This is most frequently caused by users whose addresses were incorrectly added into the system or who have left the university. Users who are not receiving list postings due to bouncing will say "Bouncing" next to their name under the "Domain" column. Clicking on the word Domain itself will sort the column so that those users that are bouncing are moved to either the top or the bottom for easy grouping. To manage Bouncing addresses further, see "Edit List Config" section.
Dump
Dump allows the administrator to quickly have a printable list of the entire subscriber base. Subscriber emails only will be included in the dump, their names are not attached.
Add / Multiple Add
To add single users, simply type their email into the box and select add. Choosing "quiet" prevents the Elist system from sending the user a welcome email. To add multiple users, click "Multiple Add" and use the following format: Make sure you create a new line for each new user. Copying and pasting from two Excel columns works well.
Subscriber Email | Subscriber Name |
---|---|
john.doe@tufts.edu | John Doe |
jane.doe@tufts.edu | Jane Doe |
Once again you have the option to send a welcome email or not. Check quiet to add users without sending welcome emails.
Search
The search function allows you quickly scan through the subscriber list. It only matches certain elements of the subscriber list. Searching will return all users who have registered with either their email address or name containing the incidence. For example, searching "Jon" would return these three possible scenarios:
- Jonathon.doe@tufts.edu
- hi-mynameis@jonter.com
- orbman23@tufts.edu Jona Orbman
Delete / Toggle Selection
To remove subscribers from the list, simply select the check box to the left of their email address. If you would like to reverse the check marks made, the Toggle button will check all unchecked boxes and uncheck all checked boxes. To remove the checked individuals, click the 'Delete selected email addresses' button. As with the "Add" function, you have the option of letting the subscriber know they have been removed, or checking "quiet" and not posting the action.
