What is Dynes?
Dynes is a file transfer protocol unlike all the others such as ftp, scp, rsync,etc... The goal is to provide high speed point to point data transfers using a dedicated network comprised of servers and optical networking links/paths beyond what is normally used for Internet and commercial networking traffic. Data transfers are scheduled in order to benefit from dedicated point to point transfers.

What size of data transfers is considered large for using this service?
At least several TBs of data would benefit Files of 100s of gigabytes would benefit. Transfers of multiple TBs would benefit the most.

Can this service be used between any two academic institutions?
Not directly. Participating institutions are the endpoints. Arrangements to move data beyond is up to you.
