- Is Globus supported at Tufts as a file transfer mechanism? Currently no though this is being examined. Globus is based upon GridFTP and allows for higher speed transfer, via multiple data paths, than typical tools such as scp, sftp, and rsync. This is of particular importance as files and datasets get larger. Globus also allows for disconnected transfer and restart of large file copies.
- Is Aspera supported at Tufts as a file transfer mechanism? As far as we know Aspera is not deployed on XSEDE yet though it is being examinedacross XSEDE but we will keep apprised of the matter and update this page as appropriate.
How do I chose between the Tufts HPC (High Performance Compute) cluster and XSEDE? The decision is not mutually exclusive as both clusters are general purpose clusters running a wide variety of software for a an equally broad user base. Typically if you are running custom code it should be compiled individually for each system.
Can I login with Tufts credentials ie UTLN? No NO. XSEDE does not allow logins using authentication credentials from other institutions though the issue is being examined and may be available in the future.
